Who is Bill Hanckel?
Bill Hanckel was a longtime member of TASL—serving as a player, captain, youth coach, friend, and President from 2009 to 2019. His unexpected passing in 2019 left a profound void in the lives of many. Bill dedicated his life to helping others while passionately promoting the game of soccer that he loved so deeply. In 2017, he received the North Carolina Adult Soccer Association’s Crampton Harrison Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the growth of adult soccer in North Carolina. He was strongly committed to TASL, serving on the Board of Directors from 2003 until 2019, and his legacy continues to inspire our community.
Bill Hanckel Foundation
In honor of Bill’s lifelong commitment to inclusion, service, and the game of soccer, TASL established the Bill Hanckel Foundation. Through this foundation, we are proud to offer financial support to players so that cost is not a barrier to participation. Assistance is available to help ensure all players have the opportunity to play. The application process is easy.
